Description

Discover the fascinating and often mysterious owls of Harney County in this engaging program that explores the species found across the region and how they have adapted to local habitats. Participants will learn to identify common and lesser-known owls through both visual characteristics and distinctive calls, while gaining insight into their behavior, hunting strategies, and ecological roles within eastern Oregon’s landscapes. Presenter Damian Fagan brings decades of field and education experience to the program, including seasons spent conducting Spotted Owl surveys as a contract biologist, work as a park ranger and wildlife educator, and authorship of several FalconGuide wildflower books. He currently serves as the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife’s Adopt-a-Lek Program Volunteer Coordinator, where he continues to connect the public with Oregon’s diverse wildlife.
